JB Glossinger [00:00:00]:
Good. Good planning, and welcome to Planning Coaching Today. I am So glad you're with us. Hey. It's JB. It's the 29th January. Pretty crazy. Right? We're closing out January already, due month, and we're getting ready to go into a check.
JB Glossinger [00:00:27]:
Go on to that, next week, to get into your plan so we make sure you're working with your plan. Remember, Mondays is always a great day to check-in with us. If you're gonna listen to Coaching Cast, at least make Mondays a priority. Very important because you understand things that we've got Coaching on. And we got a week planning right. Right? So excited about it. This is actually a week that's not on the Compass. It's one of those weeks it falls in that we have a couple every year where I kinda can come up with some topics at my discretion with what I'm hearing from the community.
JB Glossinger [00:00:58]:
And we're gonna really get into dealing with expectations and disappointment this week. It's gonna be a good one because this is when a lot of people start to expect results. They don't get them. They start quitting, their their personal development, they stopped their health stuff, and it's really where we gotta recharge back up. That's why I'm here. Okay? So we got a big week this week. Remember Our 7 piece as we get started to have the proper perspective to set those daily priorities. Those 2 things are so critical every day.
JB Glossinger [00:01:23]:
Let's improve our performance today. Let's have patience with the system. Let's keep great posture. Get those shoulders back. Let's stay present, and let's persist towards our dreams. Again, like I said, this week, we're gonna talk about dealing with expectations and disappointments. Tomorrow, we're gonna get into our book study, The Four Agreements. Excited about ending that one.
JB Glossinger [00:01:42]:
What a great book. I've got a couple things that it really affected me that I'd like to share with you as we close it out. We also have our next book ready, the 2nd brain book. We talked about that last Thursday. We're gonna be talking about 2nd brain a lot this month and how we set that up for efficiency. Wednesday, we've got expectations with others. As you know, it's a big thing that I work with my personal clients. How do we have expectations back and forth? We're we're gonna hammer that.
JB Glossinger [00:02:06]:
Thursday, we've got, how do I stay consistent? Planning with a lot of questions on this. Ask me questions. I life it. Send them in info at morning coach.com, and then I will respond to those questions. Friday, we got focus on financial expectations. How do we handle that? Saturday, of course, doctor Paul and his wonderful health wisdom, we've been getting on Saturdays Sundays dealing with defeat. The quote we're gonna have is you all face many defeats in life, but never let yourself be defeated by Maya Angelou. We got a great day, Sunday, it's gonna be fun.
JB Glossinger [00:02:36]:
We've got a due month. Right? We've been working. We're getting ready to finish it in a couple days here, and we're gonna go into a check Where we're gonna start, seeing where we're in our plan, taking a look at everything, and making some adjustments. Couple things that are going on. We got 7 day dopamine detox challenge going. You can do it at any time, but I've built this to give you the ability to kinda Let some of that that dopamine, you know and reset your brain a little bit. You can find that in the challenge area. You can jump in there and do that and tell us how it's coaching? I'm having a lot of fun with that.
JB Glossinger [00:03:08]:
We've got our cohort starting in February. If you wanna do a 4 week course with us, You can get ahold of us there or our masterminds. Make sure you check-in with us on that. You can email info at planning coach.com. And, of course, we've got some new things happening. If you haven't done the onboarding, please do. You can sign up for that in the welcome of your morning coach, course or and you'll get an email every day, which is pretty cool. I'm also putting those emails up in the, course.
JB Glossinger [00:03:37]:
It's called getting the most out of morning coach. You can go through that day by day and really structure yourself, with everything new that we've got going on. So excited about everything that's happening. I'm glad you're here. Super pumped. But today, I wanna get into dealing with expectations and disappointment. So let's let's discuss this a little bit. So a lot of times, what happens with with us is we set our goals.
JB Glossinger [00:04:01]:
We get excited about the new year. We do our December planning. Or if you're just getting started you're planning and you're excited, and we're not seeing the results that we want. Right? And so we start to get disappointed, and that disappointment can stop us from really living the life, that we wanna live. And I look at some things in my life that I've been disappointed. Now I don't like to go into the negative a lot, but I do like to be vulnerable and tell you I'm not perfect in things that I do. And, one of the things I bought a couple years ago is a PRS guitar. This was probably 3 years ago now.
JB Glossinger [00:04:33]:
It's two and a half, 3 years ago. Pretty crazy how fast time time goes. And I got a Taylor, a really nice Taylor acoustic guitar. Really went off starting the 10 minutes a day and and got a I actually hired an instructor and was excited about becoming a you know, learning guitar and getting into it. Well, then COVID hit. The instructor couldn't come over every week. I stopped really practicing. The guitar sat there.
JB Glossinger [00:04:56]:
I would play once in a while, and literally, it just kind of faded off. And and I gotta tell you, I'm totally disappointed. Totally disappointed. And the disappointment comes from Kind of I guess the word would be nostalgic because I look back a couple years ago, and I'm going, jeez. If I would've just played every day, do you realize how good I'd be right now? Life goes so fast. I remember buying those guitars, and, it's funny. I remember buying the guitars and doing YouTube videos. This is, like, 3 years ago.
JB Glossinger [00:05:23]:
It seems like yesterday. I was so excited. My whole life revolved around this. It was like, I'm gonna learn guitar. Finally, you know and I even told the story here that, you know, when I was in Arizona and I had no money, A guy you know, I started playing guitar, and a guy gave me a couple guitars. And a friend of mine, came from California. We were playing basketball. One day, I got a call.
JB Glossinger [00:05:43]:
He was at my house asking if somebody's there. I said, no. I came home, and the guy stole everything, stole my guitars and everything. And I'd never picked up a guitar until, You know, 3 years ago, two and a half years ago when I bought these guitars. And so I was really motivated because I lost all that time in my life of not playing guitars because this person stole them, and it really hurt. And I just never picked up a guitar again. I couldn't afford it back then. And so when I could finally afford it, I got a really nice Paul Reed Smith, awesome guitar and a really nice Taylor guitar.
JB Glossinger [00:06:12]:
It was so pumped up at the beginning, and then it just faded. Right? And it just faded. And Part of the reason is is I really didn't have it part of my plan. It wasn't part of my structured plan. It wasn't into my mission, And it just was one of those things that I wanted to do. And I'm sure you have a lot of those things. Right? Even me right now, my health is pretty good. I'm getting back into it right now.
JB Glossinger [00:06:34]:
My HRV is climbing. I'm doing better than I have in a long life, but the last I I don't know. The last 6 months of the year, I just didn't really put in the effort, that I needed to in my health. And I think back and I look at myself, and I'm disappointed because if I would've stayed to the basics and just did my, You know, working out 3 times a week and stuck with it. Gosh. I could be so much further ahead. And so there's disappointment there. I look at morning coach, and we're so excited.
JB Glossinger [00:07:01]:
We had such a good, start to the new year, one of our best starts ever, And then it kinda slowed down, and my expectations, weren't being met, and I started getting disappointed again. So you can live a life of disappointment as many people do, like, I can go over all those things and say, man, I shoulda, woulda, coulda. I shoulda play guitar every day. I should've worked out every day. I should've did some different marketing stuff. But the truth is I didn't. I didn't. So that disappointment, what I need to do is learn from it.
JB Glossinger [00:07:35]:
K? Learn from it. And then what do we need to do? Focus on what you have. Focus on what you have. So instead of what you don't have. So instead of saying, oh, I'm not good at guitar. I need to focus on Man, I got your guitars. This is so awesome. If I wanted to learn it, the best time to plant an oak tree is 20 years ago or today.
JB Glossinger [00:07:52]:
Now according to our planning, I had to set it to the side. Why? Because I'm focused on growing morning coach. That's my mission. So if it doesn't fit in there, then I don't wanna have projects that are gonna take me away from that this year. So and that's what we teach. Right? So I'm doing what we teach. With that being said, how about health? Well, health is Coaching that does help me get there. So it's like, okay.
JB Glossinger [00:08:15]:
What could I do today? What can I do today to make my health better? What can I do today to focus on 1% improvement? Not be disappointed. I mean, I can feel a little bit of disappointment, but do something about it today. Do something about it today. And and and so we've we've gotta understand that that's what happens in life. You're gonna have these expectations. You're gonna get excited, and then are times you're gonna get disappointed, and that's just part of it. I see a lot of it in business. Business is a way.
JB Glossinger [00:08:41]:
Like, all of a sudden, you have this great cash flow, you're thinking, man, it's gonna last like this forever, and that just shuts off. And then you have another wave. It is the weirdest feeling, and those of you that have business understand this. And so the the real key thing is to make sure you have your goals, have big goals, have things in place, but then be patient. And don't let the disappointment take over. Because what happens is if you let the disappointment takes over take over, remember, what we feel is what we manifest. You're gonna manifest more of that. Just recognize it's part of the process.
JB Glossinger [00:09:13]:
It's part of what's going on, and it's why why we have created what I've created. The reason I've created this is because this is what I've seen. In 19 years of working with people and seeing and even more than that, like, even managing, running the companies, The thing I see with people is they get excited out of the gate, and then this you know, resistance occurs. Things don't happen the way they're supposed to or the way they think they're supposed to happen. And all of a sudden, they get this disappointment, this anxiety, this stress, And they they lose focus, and and they they don't play the guitar. Just an example. Right? They don't play the guitar. And they wake up one day, and they're frustrated.
JB Glossinger [00:09:53]:
And why are they frustrated? Because they look in the corner and that guitar is there. They've had 2 years to learn how to play it, and they never played it. So there's 1 of 2 things happens right there. Either they get really jaded and they go on social media and they're just somebody that's just angry. Right? And they're angry because life didn't turn out the way that they wanted it to turn out. And a lot of that is let's take individual responsibility for where we're at. Right? It's okay. I always say the 1 person that makes all the mistakes with me, I know who who that person is because when I look in the mirror, I see them staring back at me.
JB Glossinger [00:10:24]:
Every mistake that has happened in my life, there's been 1 person at the scene of the crime, And that's okay. I take responsibility for that. It just means that I gotta look at my life and assess my life and make the changes according to what we need to do, and that is why this system was created. This system was created to realize we're gonna have expectations, and then we're gonna have disappointments. It's the way life works. It just is. And so we've got the support that you need now, and you just gotta be patient. Well, maybe I shouldn't set big expectations.
JB Glossinger [00:10:58]:
No. We need big expectations. I want you to have big expectations. But you gotta watch the disappointment that comes along with those. You know? And you gotta watch. And you and and and how do you do that? You celebrate the small victories along the way. You enjoy this process because that's what it is. For me, sometimes it feels like I'm asleep.
JB Glossinger [00:11:20]:
I I don't I it's like I'm asleep for a month. I don't realize it. I'm writing my journal. I'm just kinda going through the motions. I wake up one day, and I'm like, wait. What are you doing? And that's why I need morning coach. I I really do because I listen to it, and it's like, okay. Do my 7 p's.
JB Glossinger [00:11:35]:
Do I have the right perspective and the right priorities? What am I focused on today? I wish somebody woulda had this for me 20 years ago. I wish somebody had this for me in high school and college that, you know, it's giving me some information like this to just keep my mind straight, to help me understand the priorities, to understand that life, yeah, I'm gonna be a little disappointed. I got cut from 8th grade basketball team. But instead of, like, Michael Jordan working on basketball, I moved to wrestling. See, life is all these little decisions that we're making along the way, And we're just going, like, you know, with an a boat without a rudder. We're just going all over the place because we don't have any planning now I look at my disappointments and go, okay. What was I disappointed about is we come into a check. That's what we're gonna do.
JB Glossinger [00:12:19]:
We don't need to do it right now, but next week, we're gonna start checking things. It's like, Well, why are why am I not on mission? And I am. See, that's the difference. I'm talking about some of the things that I didn't do last year, but I am, According to what I wanna do this year, it's grow morning coach and get healthier. There's a couple experts of my mission, and they're all coming through. So I can look backwards and get angry and frustrated and say I didn't do those things, or I can isolate the things that I know I need to do in order to enrich my life and focus on those today And take that disappointment and turn it into Motivation. And focus on the 1% a day and just get better. And just start getting better and better every day and going, okay.
JB Glossinger [00:12:57]:
What is my my the priorities for the day. That's why I'm I I to me, the most important thing is not is not is not, you know, All the tools and everything that we're coaching. The most important thing is that for you to get the proper perspective and get the priorities straight. Because you you do that day in and day out, and you're analyzing and you're looking at your life and you're living with awareness, and that's where you start to appreciate life. You start to understand and look. Okay. Why am I disappointed? Well, I'm disappointed because I didn't stick with it. Well, whose fault is that? And how do I change that? So you could take that role of getting angry and frustrated and just living your life that way the rest of your life, or you can take a control now.
JB Glossinger [00:13:40]:
And it doesn't matter how old you are. Colonel Sanders started KFC at, like, a 110, they say. No. I'm exaggerating. But, no, it was seriously in his seventies, I believe. So it's never too late to kinda get your excuse my language here. I always like to preface this, but to get your shit together. I know I need to get mine together, And I need to do it every day.
JB Glossinger [00:14:00]:
And that's why I love Mondays because Mondays allow us to step back and go, okay. It doesn't matter what happened. It doesn't matter what happened into the 29th January. Because today, we can move forward going into February as we check things and make adjustments to what we need to do. And if guitar was on my list for January, I haven't picked up the guitar once this month, but it's okay. You know why? Because I forgave myself. I forgave myself and allowed myself that that space to know that I don't have time to do that right now. Will I pick it up one day? Oh, it looks sexy.
JB Glossinger [00:14:32]:
Yes. I will. But I'm not gonna allow that sexiness to pull me away, and I'm talking about the guitar sexy, by the way. I'm not gonna allow that to pull me away from my objective right now of making an impact on the world. Same with golf. Golf was another big thing in my my life. Right? Huge. You guys heard me, but it's not part of my mission right now.
JB Glossinger [00:14:51]:
It's a goal to be under 10 handicap, but that doesn't get me to my mission. You see how this works? You see how you kinda look at things and you see, and so you're gonna Face life the way you should face it. And that's what this program is about. And the number one thing, honestly, is a Coaching. That's why you're here. We've got all the stuff that'll help you get Coaching. All the systems. Get the and now the companion's getting through beta.
JB Glossinger [00:15:12]:
We're getting there. But this system is meant to you for you to come and listen to some coaching, create awareness, and then focus on your priorities and understand where you're going. And that's why people are having success with it because they're stepping back and taking a look and going, what do I really need? And they're appreciating what they have instead of looking at things they don't have and then building from there. It's a very spiritual concept too, by the way. So let's get out there and look at our disappointment and our expectations this week. K? And feel that. What am I disappointed? What did I expect that did not happen, and what are we doing? What are we adjusting to make sure that doesn't happen again? And that could be letting go of something. I can be saying, hey.
JB Glossinger [00:15:51]:
This isn't in my life right now. It's not gonna take me to what I wanna accomplish this year. That's that takes strength. It really does. But that's why you need a coaching, and you need somebody in your corner, and that's what we're here for. Or a group. Right? We're all here for you. We're gonna support you in your journey.
JB Glossinger [00:16:07]:
So let's get out there and have a great start of the week. Get excited. We're gonna finish the book study tomorrow, But I'm with you. I'm with you every day. Why I'm with you every day? Because you're gonna be successful in the things that you wanna do as you gain clarity, and that's what we're helping you do. Alright. So get out there and do it to it, and I'll be back tomorrow right here at morningcoach.com.
