Been neglecting yourself lately? It’s vital to your overall wellbeing that you take time out for you. And, I’ve got a few different ways to love yourself. And, this reminds me of Louise Hay‘s quote that says, “You have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”
Miami in the 90’s (for me) consisted of loud, obnoxious night clubs, lots of Red Bull and my most prized possession: a fake Rolex watch. Every Friday night I would get together with my buddies and we would head out for a night on the town – but not before I put on my imitation Rolex watch.
I thought that phony Rolex would help me attract girls; it most certainly did not. Most girls knew immediately it was a fake and would not even look at me. In no time at all, this in turn made me feel like a fake in my own life.
Success is truly when you have that inner knowing that you have your own back, and the inner knowing that your self-worth is not dependent on your success (or a Rolex watch!). There’s a saying that goes, “Success does not bring happiness; happiness brings success.” I have found this to be exactly true. From my experience, I have found that success does not bring self-love, but that self-love definitely brings success.
Love Yourself First
When you have an innate sense of unconditional self-love and acceptance, you have a firm foundation from which healthy living and career success all come in an effortless, safe and amazing way. Learning to truly love yourself for who you are will be one of your most important undertakings in your life. Throughout my coaching, I have come across many people who view themselves through a social lens and are always striving to be someone they are not so that they can feel accepted by others.
When you accept yourself for who you are and establish clear boundaries for your life, you are more apt to live a fulfilling and rewarding life. You will also surround yourself with people who add value to your life instead. When you can’t come to terms with who you are, you will wobble in your identity and struggle with your sense of self. This is where you find yourself surrounded with people who don’t value and support who you are, and who bring you down.
True happiness starts with a solid sense of self, and that comes from being your authentic self and actually liking who that person is. This is truly the foundation for living an inspired life, so I have put below 3 of the tops ways to love yourself right now.

1. Stop trying to be perfect. Do you understand that there is literally no one – not one person – on this planet who is perfect? Perfectionism can by far be the largest obstacle in your way when it comes to loving yourself. If you expect nothing but perfection from yourself then you will undoubtedly regret every instance that some imperfection happens.
2. Silence your inner critic. The way you think about yourself can greatly determine your ability to love yourself. We all have that inner voice that criticizes everything we do, so it’s high time to stop engaging in all that negative self-talk. Take note of any negative self-talk you catch in your mind and start to replace it with more positive beliefs about yourself.
3. Forgive yourself. Let go of the past, live in the present. Quit letting the past haunt you and control your life; this is only depriving you of the joy and strength of the present moment. The past can be a source of anger and sorrow, so let go of the things that happened in the past and relieve yourself from any burdens or baggage you are carrying around.
There are so many different ways to love yourself. Remember, life is unpredictable and many things will be thrown your way. The best way to navigate through life’s ups and downs is to remain true to yourself and not wobble away from that. In the end, the only person you can count on is you. Why not count on yourself to be your number one loyal fan and love yourself entirely as this will lead you to success in all areas of your life.
