[00:00:14] Good Morning, And welcome to MorningCoach. Today I am so glad you’re with us.
[00:00:19] As you know my name’s J.B. Glossinger and this is your personal evolution system, the place to get your day started right.
[00:00:27] Welcome, welcome, welcome, and I’m so glad you’re with me today as we are ready to rock and roll, have some fun this Tuesday as we are continuing down this path of attitude.
[00:00:38] As you know attitude is so important, and it’s one of the things that we can work on. We can get better at it, as we discussed yesterday. Really creating a new reality for ourselves, as we flip that attitude to get a little more positive. And that’s what we’re doing here. We’re just moving a little more positive a little bit more each step of the way. I’m super to help you do that. By the way real quick. This week we’re putting up the retreat information. If you are going to come down in October please let me know by Friday, because that is the deadline this Friday. And if you didn’t get that e-mail yesterday shoot me an email informing MorningCoach.com if you want to come down and really get an attitude re-alignment, with me and Mike Lee and Eric. It’s going to be a great retreat, October twenty eighth, Twenty ninth and thirtieth, right before Halloween. Some fun down here in South Florida so keep an eye out for that. If you didn’t get the e-mail, if you did cool, just let me know what your game plan is. OK. So awesome. Today we’re going to have some fun.
[00:01:35] As you know sometimes I pull some stories out, and there some old stories that float around in our field of personal development, and motivational speaking, and every once in a while I’ll pull one out, That just kind of reiterates the point that we’re trying to make during the week or during the day to help you kind of see it, and I enjoy these. I mean we learned by story. If you’re taking ILD with me and you’ve gotten to anywhere in the track or you’ve seen me speak. I talk about how important story is, that if you’re going to teach you really need to teach through story, because that’s how we learn. You know the stories that we hear, we remember. If you just go learn something and just get the points it’s sometimes a little bit hard to take it away, but if somebody can really put it in a story and give it to you in a good story concept it really really connects with us. And part of the reason is, it’s part of our DNA. If we look at study, Joseph Campbell, who really went into story pretty heavily and you know all the great directors have studied Joseph Campbell. A lot of great storytellers have studied Joseph Campbell. We wouldn’t have Star Wars or E.T if it wasn’t for Joseph Campbell, because his story arc is what George Lucas took. He took the ideas that he put together and really used him for his movies. This story is so critical right? So we’ve got to get used to being better storytellers.
[00:02:59] If you’re a parent, you know you need to work on this. If you’re a speaker you need to work on this, if you’re a teacher you need to work on this, if you communicate with anyone you need to work on this. So basically that means everybody needs to be a better storyteller. Am I the best at it? No. I do some I have some good ones but I have some bad ones, and I try to get better at it.But not to sidebar too much, But it is something that you need to get better at and that is storytelling because it will help you get your message across and it will help people remember things. And that’s why it’s so important. So like I said every once in a while I pull a story out, and I got one here. This is an older story. It’s called “The Frog Race” It’s been called the story of tiny frogs and basically it’s a story of some frogs right? And there was a bunch of frogs together and they were going to do this running competition to the top of a tower. Right? So the goal was to get to the top of the tower. And all these people came around them, all the other frogs all around them to watch the race and cheer. So it was this huge crowd of people if you can just picture it. This big tower down the way and all these little frogs getting ready to race to see who could be the champion up top. And no one in the crowd really believed that anybody could get to the top.
[00:04:11] I mean that was you know it was it was so high and so far and it was like there’s no way that you know this guy’s going to be able to do it. The other frogs were like there’s no way any of these frogs are going to do it, and you could hear him say Oh way too difficult. They’ll never make it to the top, or not a chance that they will succeed. That tower is too high. There’s no way they’re going to do it. So the tiny frogs of frogs took off running, and they’re running, and they’re running and their racing and they’re going after it and their challenging each other, and one frog gets ahead of the other one and then the other frog, and they’re just bouncing all the way up there until they get to that tower and now they start going up the side of the tower, and all of a sudden they start collapsing one by one. Right?
[00:04:52] So they start collapsing, and then there’s a couple of them that just keep going. There’s a few that are doing it and the crowd then starts to yell. “It’s too difficult.”
[00:05:01] “No one will make it.” And they keep one by one, They keep giving up. You know one by one they just keep stopping and the crowd just keeps going “you’re not going to make it.”
[00:05:12] “You’re not going to make it. You know no one will make it.” And then all of a sudden one just keeps climbing and keeps climbing. They keep yelling “You’re not going to make it it’s too high.” But he keeps going higher, and higher, and higher. And he wouldn’t give up. He wouldn’t give up until he finally got to the top of the tower. Everyone else had given up, though all the frogs had given up. And so when that frog came down everybody wanted to know, why that frog had the strength? Why did that frog really, Why was he able to get all the way up to the top of that tower when every other frog quit.
[00:05:47] And what they found out when they started to talk to him is that the winner was deaf. He was deaf, he couldn’t hear the crowd. He couldn’t hear those other people that were negative and pessimistic. The one that would take your dreams away from you, the ones that pushed you away, the ones that use spells as words to put that doubt into your mind. You know as we go out in our life this is what’s going to happen, is that you are going to have people around you fill your mind with doubts. Most people as we discussed yesterday are 51 or more percent negative.
[00:06:29] They aren’t positive, and when you get filled with those doubts,
[00:06:33] All it takes is one little other person telling you that, and it reaffirms your doubt. And when you’re struggling to stay positive as we all are in this world today, and we’re struggling to chase our dreams, and we’re struggling to go after the things that are going to take us higher and give us more peace and prosperity, and happiness and joy. All it takes is one person. One other little frog we call him SAPO. SAPO in Spanish right? One other SAPO to say “you can’t do it. It’s too high” and your mind says “you know what everybody else is quiting.”
[00:07:10] “Everybody else is stopping getting the top. I’m going to stop too.” And you know what happened to me multiple times. But one that’s very memorable and you’ve heard my story. Is that my buddy Ed who listens to the show now, but Ed, who I was a roommate with Ed when I moved to South Florida. Ed was kind of one of the reasons I came here. He’s a couple of years younger than me, and he was a good friend of mine. He wasn’t a friend in high school, but as I got down here we got to be better friends because he was a couple of years younger than me. And I met him when I was down here on a trade show and we went out and I fell in love with Miami, and I came back and I lived with it. I came from Tucson to Miami. When I was down here, I was really sad I was big in the zig Ziglar and Tony Robbins and I listened to all the tapes, and I would you know really get it read all the books and as you heard I used to get you know I had a collection of all these books and tapes and CD’s. When I was first getting here 99 2000 was the time frame I went to I saw the ad in the paper of all things for the Florida speakers Association,
[00:08:11] I went to a meeting. And I sat in that Florida’s speaker Association meeting and I was super pumped to be in that meeting and listening to all these speakers or people that wanted to be speakers and I came home that day and said “You know what I’m going to be a speaker.” And Ed looked at me, and I was just getting my career started and aviation at that time. I was doing sales and I was traveling around and had a pretty good job pretty good gig not a ton of money but it was a good gig. And he looked at me and said “Jamie who would listen to you?” I’ll never forget those words because it was like somebody stabbed me in my heart. But he said “who would listen to you?”
[00:08:45] And you know I thought about it, and he was right, he was right, “who would listen to me?” and I have these beliefs that you had to have gray hair because I was seeing Zig Ziglar. You had to be 6’8″ because I was seeing Tony Robbins 6’8″ 6’9″ right? And I’m like “who would listen to me? I’m just as 5’9″ guy from Indiana. There is no way I’m going to be successful, there’s no way anybody would read my book, there’s no way anybody would listen to me as much as I want to help people.” That was my driving thing. like I get so much pleasure out of that, I had to rediscover that this year.
[00:09:18] But at that time I was like “gosh this is my calling, this is what I want to do.” But then he told me “nobody would listen to me” and I believed him. Just like those frogs telling them “you can’t make it.” I wasn’t deaf. I had to hear him and I heard him loud and clear that nobody’s going to listen to you but you haven’t done anything special.
[00:09:38] That there isn’t any quality in you that anybody would follow you or listen to you. Why would you want to do that? what would, How can you inspire someone? And it was tough. I mean I think about that time, and literally I didn’t go back for two years. I went to my job and then finally, one day I called up the person in Florida speaker Association and said “Can I come back.” And this is two years later that I came back, and that’s when I started going after my dream again. But I gave it up for two years. And so it happens to all of us. You know there are people and you know what’s crazy about this let me just go back is that you know Ed really cared about me. He really cared about me, like he loved me. like he was being a friend. It wasn’t like he was doing it to steal my dream. It was the opposite he cared. He’s like “you know you’re going to go off and quit your job and do this. It’s never going to work. You know be secure be safe.” And so a lot of people ask me what happened after that, you know, and what’s funny is a couple of years ago Ed hired me. Ed’s done very well. He’s got his own staffing company down here in Miami and he listens to morning coach and he’s done real well. And him and my buddy Dwayne build a pretty big company. And Ed had me come and speak a couple of years ago to their company which was just awesome.
[00:10:50] It was one of the original sacred six talks that I did, and it was just kind of redemption right? That here he was hiring me to come and speak to his company after all those years ago he told me no one would listen to me. So I got to tell you it’s great. It’s just great to have those people that, you know it’s not they didn’t believe because he did, he always believed in me but he cared about me you know. But it’s also great to see him now appreciate and respect me as a speaker and as a coach and as a consultant which is you know was really my dream. So you’re going to have those people in your life, and as the frogs that are screaming at you that are saying “you can’t, you can’t, it’s too tough, you’re too old, you’re too young, you’re not in good enough shape, you don’t have enough energy, you don’t have enough education, You’re the wrong skin color.” whatever it is. You know they’re going to tell you it and you’re going to hear it a lot, when you’re going after your dreams, and you’ve got to be able to pick yourself up and continue to move forward and almost be as the frog. Deaf to that negativity, because there’s a little part of us inside of us that just grabs onto that negativity and holds on.
[00:12:00] And that ego, and that’s what it is, really holds on and goes “you can fail.”
[00:12:04] “You’re gonna fail, just quit. Just give up now.” And that’s the voice. It’s just not going to help us do it, right? And that’s what we’ve got to do is find this, you know here come here and listen to morning Coach. Find positive people that are going to raise you up.
[00:12:24] That’s why I put the Facebook Community and have struggled, really. I mean even if you look at a MorningCoach with 150000 people on Facebook you know we’ve got a lot of people that listen five to six thousand downloads a day now. You know we’ve got people all over the world that I work with, but yet we still have a challenge getting people together.
[00:12:43] Right? Still. With that many people, because it’s just a very negative culture, a very negative society.
[00:12:53] Is there good things and great things happening? Yes. You’re here. you’re hearing one of them. I hear them every day, but still at the end of the day bringing good positive people together is a challenge. And that’s why I’m doing what I’m doing, because I want to make a difference in the world. And how do we make a difference in the world? We flip the entire world from 49 percent to 51 percent positive, and it’s very hard with the media that we have today and the things that are happening today. The negative cells, the negative cells. And so we’ve got to move and flip to something new that’s going to help us really get more positive. So, what I want you to do today, your homework today, is just be aware of that negative.
[00:13:33] Be aware of people saying “quit, You can’t do it. It’s not going to happen.” And just have your negative meter on. keep an eye out for those people that are going to hold you back. Keep an eye out for those people that are going to pull you down. And when they are there just love them but move on, and focus on the positive, and just keep going. Be deaf to it. Be like that little frog that just kept going, right? We all heard “The Little Engine That Could.” I know I can, I know I can, I know I can. When we were children right? It’s true. That’s what it’s all about. I really believe success is a battle of attrition, meaning that people that don’t give up are the ones that become successful. Everybody else falls off along the way whether it’s because of their own negative beliefs, or because others keep feeding those negative beliefs. So let’s not give up. let’s continue to move on. Let’s press on towards the goal and believe that we can do this, because that’s where it all starts. It believes in that positive, in the belief that we can do it, in the belief that we can make this happen. And if you’re struggling. Shoot me an email info@MorningCoach.com, and I can do my best.
[00:14:49] We have coaching available, we have retreats going on. I have resources to help you. I am going to do whatever I can to keep you going to where you want to go.
[00:14:59] Living that dream OK. So I love you. I do. Get out there. Have an amazing day. Let’s keep the positive going, let’s make the difference in the world together. And thank you for helping me get this message out because it is critical that we do. So let’s make it happen OK. I love you.
[00:15:14] Go have a phenomenal day and I will be back to get your morning started right here tomorrow on MorningCoach.com
