Air Traffic Controllers & Your Brain

I had the opportunity this past weekend to tour the air traffic control tower at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport located just outside Denver, Colorado, RMMA. RMMA is a general aviation airport servicing everything from student pilots in small propeller planes to sophisticated business jets. Even huge tanker planes that fight wildfires throughout the Rocky Mountains fly out of here. The view from the tower is incredible.  High in the air with a backdrop of snow-capped peaks to the west and downtown Denver to the east, I thought to myself this had to be the best “office” in town. I quickly realized however that this was serious business where highly trained professionals worked tirelessly with no room for error.

I sat in awe as the controllers guided a variety of planes through their airspace to safe takeoffs and landings. It was like a finely choreographed ballet, with aircrafts all over radar screens being given detailed instructions constantly, one right after another.  Their job is in the top five most stressful, responsible for remembering and recalling vast amounts of information, maintaining constant focus, and managing multiple tasks at once.  On a busy day, the work is so physically and mentally exhausting that the controllers switch off every hour to stay sharp and even nap on break to recharge

Why am I talking about Air traffic controllers?

It got me thinking about the students and adults I work with that have ADHD and Learning Differences.  The National Center for Learning Disabilities released a report that shows 1 out of every 5 students has Dyslexia or attention issues.  For them, it is like being an air traffic controller without a radar to help make sense of all the chaos in the air. Does this describe you? More and more adults are getting diagnosed with ADHD later in life, often after their child is diagnosed.

Your brain | Embracing its processing style

The ADHD brain does not see the world as everyone else. To maximize the gifts and strengths you have been given, you must understand how you process information and navigate day to day tasks. Once you understand how you learn and interpret the world around you, you can develop systems to gain skills and build self-confidence. A key ingredient to this is self-forgiveness. Over the years, you have been building your own radar to process and manage all the information that is coming your way and finding a community like Morning Coach to support you on that journey.

Recharging the Brain

For adults with attention challenges, going to work and sorting through information is like being an air traffic controller on a super busy day.  You have worked hard to focus and complete tasks all day long. Are you tired, frustrated and even cranky when you come home? Just keeping up can be exhausting. You are likely putting in two to three times the effort of your peers.  You too will need lots of breaks to recharge. Take the time to discover the best way for you to recharge.  Is it going for a walk around the block, exploring your creative side by drawing, or simply kicking back and daydreaming?  Be careful with screen time however as the constant stimulation can drain the brain further.  This could be a fun experiment to do with your family and to find healthy options that work for everyone.

When I met the controllers at RMMA, it was clear they were passionate about what they did and took great pride in keeping pilots, passengers, and their planes safe. They were given the training, community, and rest necessary to stay at the top of their game.  Are you supported in the same way; with compassion and space to achieve success at your own pace?  You too can marvel as you keep the dots on your radar screen from colliding!

How To Focus | 5 Tips To Train Your Scatterbrain

How To Focus | 5 Tips To Train Your Scatterbrain Morning Coach

Do you ever feel like there’s an open window in your mind with a thrashing wind tearing through it, causing a mad flutter of papers across your brain? It’s become increasingly clear that due to the nature of  our modern society, more and more people need help with how to focus: how to focus with life in general, how to focus more on themselves (we’re talking self-love here!), how to focus more on things they want to do, how to focus on their goals, how to focus on a task, how to focus on their career, how to focus on their health and the list goes on and on.

But, if you ever feel scatterbrained or perhaps you live in scatterbrain mode, then you know how difficult it can be to focus on anything, no matter the area of your life. Do you cringe at just hearing the word ‘focus?  Being ‘scatterbrained’ is often just a symptom of an extremely hectic life where we are often overworked on top of over committing ourselves to different activities. Not only that, we are also incredibly inundated with information each and every day.

I want you to ask yourself a few questions:

  • Do you lack the motivation to start on a project/ task that you really want to accomplish?
  • Are you paralyzed due not being able to decide where to start on a project because you want to do a hundred things at once — like this instant?
  • Do you often lack the motivation to stay with a task (no matter how small or simple) until it’s completed?
  • Do you become distracted easily? Does anything else seem more interesting than the task you are to complete?
  • Are there tasks that remain incomplete because you don’t have anyone putting pressure on you to complete it?

If you answered yes to any or all of the above questions then you have a scattered brain. And, that’s okay because we can help you find some focus. Everyone experiences sporadic moments of being distracted or not being able to complete a goal/ task / project. And, there’s nothing wrong with that; we are all human beings.

However, when you are spending the majority of your day in scatterbrain mode, then it becomes a bigger problem where you can easily fall into a stressful trap of avoidance, or worse, becoming overwhelmed from trying to catch up and make up for lost time.

5 Tips On How To Focus

1. Have a Daily Game Plan & Prioritize, Prioritize, Prioritize. This is of upmost importance that you understand this: if you do not know what you want, it will be very hard for you to achieve anything. Before you start your day, know exactly what it is you want to accomplish. If your brain is in too much of fog, then pretend your day is over and ask yourself what you need to feel like you had a focused and productive day. Ask yourself what is most important that you do for this day only.

If you have not yet read JB’s Sacred 6 book, I suggest you do that first.  The Sacred Six process will help you identify your mission, values, and goals in life. You will then design an action plan with daily tasks to move you steadily toward your dreams. The Sacred 6 includes practical exercises organized around core Sacred Six principles like focus, clarity, consistency, and prioritization. And, it also provides support for developing “keystone” positive habits, eliminating blocks to success, and making life-changing decisions.

2. Dump Your Brain. A fantastic exercise to start out with if your brain is stuffed with a million different ideas, to-do’s, etc., then do a brain dump.  A brain dump is where you make a list of everything on your mind. Take a notepad and just start writing out everything you need to do or get, no matter what the issue is — get it all out of your head and onto paper.

Keep this notepad easily accessible to you over the course of 3 days and anytime you think “oh yeah, I’ve got to do that” write it on the pad.  Once you have dumped most of your brain onto paper, start categorizing items and then prioritize them. Once you have prioritized everything start working on your list.
How To Focus | 5 Tips To Train Your Scatterbrain Morning Coach3. Work In 50 Minute Chunks. Don’t be lured into working nonstop for hours on end. This only results in a bad burn out making it very hard to have enough motivation to start again. No matter the task, only work on it for a maximum of 50 minutes and then take a 10 minute break. You can stretch, move, meditate, read or whatever you feel like doing.

4. Do Things to Minimize Your Stress. Stress creates a very scattered brain. So, it’s vital that you explore different ways you can keep stress at a minimum. The two best natural remedies to stress are exercise and sleep. Your coping mechanism get extremely weak when you are tired. Make sure you are moving your body in some form or fashion every single day and make sure you are getting adequate sleep.

5. Mediate to Quiet Your Mind. If you want to have laser sharp focus, you need to learn how to meditate and do it. Meditation  is really easy to do, but not for someone whose mind is driving the Indy 5000. So, understand with meditation you don’t need to spend an hour and you don’t need to hold your body into some difficult pose. Start by wearing comfortable clothes and sitting upright in a comfy chair. Begin mediating a few minutes and move up to 15 – 20 minutes.

Do a search and pick a breathing or mantra meditation on YouTube. The most important thing is to train your brain to relax, and focus on one thing (the mantra or your breath). Meditation works best when it is the first thing you do each morning because your brain has yet to be overloaded from the constant daily chatter.

So, it’s time to stop living in scatterbrain mode and learn how to focus a bit. Your results will depend on where you choose to put your energy and focus. So, test out a few of the above tips and see what gives you the most effective results in the most satisfying manner. Once you gain some clarity and get going, there is no turning back. Things will get easier and easier because you have learned to harness more of your mental power.

Executive Leadership System

[00:00:04] Good morning and

[00:00:09] Welcome to MorningCoach. Today I am so glad you’re with us. As you know my name is J.B. Glossinger and this is your personal evolution system, thee place to get your day started right. Welcome, welcome, welcome. I’m so glad you’re here today as we are on Episode two thousand nine hundred and fifty six. Wow. Been pretty crazy just that number 2956 but we’re having some fun this morning. As always it is about fun, It is about good energy, and it is about positivity. That’s what it’s about so hopefully you’re being a little more positive. Put some good energy out there and make it happen.

[00:00:46] That’s what we’re doing together. Let’s keep it moving forward. Today I got a great show for you.

[00:00:50] We are working on this idea of understanding a leadership system. So it is Saturday you know we talk about systems on Saturday and what to get in is a little bit because as you know we’re making some changes to MorningCoach in one of the things that we’re doing as levels.

[00:01:05] The reason is, because we’re putting together a leadership system which is really important to understand and I want to talk about that and why we need that. You see this year I went back to start training with Sir again and you’ve heard me talk about Mike Lee Kanerick many times,

[00:01:23] and one of the reasons I went back was because of the progressive environment that he creates meaning that every step of the way you’re training for something he has rank. He comes from a military system which has a rank system meaning you go through different levels. Why is this important. Well because without that rank you kind of get distracted. You get distracted, you get complacent. He kind of just fit in and where things are, and if you don’t have any motivation to get to that next level, that next rank, you just don’t move forward, you stop. In fact there’s many people that I’ve seen that have come into the system back in the day when he only had one rank and he had one rank called the blackbelt right. People would get to that and then they would quit and then he wouldn’t see them again because they kind of reached the rank and they would move on. The truth is in leadership you need some form of progression. You need something that you’re helping people move through. And it’s always continuous there’s always something else you’re training for there’s always something else you’re striving for something you’re doing now you can do this yourself right you could try to put something together and it’s challenging. I’ve tried over the past but I’ve got to tell you I find it’s much better when I am in a system so I can just let go and move through the system right and move through the rank progression and always be pushing through that.

[00:02:50] His new one now is Wolf, and as you know I just did Wolf. Wolf was 30 hours minimal food, minimal sleep Wolf one. I’ve now got Wolf level two and Wolf level three to go through, So I’ve got to get in shape, I’ve got to get myself ready for that. That’s next year and the year after. That rank progression allows me to give me something to focus on. So whatever we’re doing, whether we’re parenting, whether we’re leading others, whether we run an organization, we want to have a pathway or a lead leadership progression that we’re going to take people through. OK. From step 1 to step two, step three, to step four, step five, steps six, to step seven, etc. etc.. and so the big idea here then is how can we create some progression in the things that we’re doing.

[00:03:39] How can we create a way that you’re always staying engaged and interested in what you’re working to do. So your job as a leader is to create some form of progression within your organization or your family or wherever you’re at. So if we think about family for us right now we’re progressing as we rebuild this house put it together to the way we want it. We moved in about about seven months ago and we’re slowly you know getting the house where we want it to be. That is the progression that we’re working on step by step. We’re working on getting the house you know doing little things here and there. But again as soon as the house gets done it kind of loses its luster. Right. So you want to do it little by little and create the progression. Same thing with MorningCoach, so you hear me talking about levels. One of the reasons I’m putting 13 levels together is because I want a progressive system we have it. MorningCoach has been this thing that you sign up and you just get into well if you don’t have anything to work for and you don’t have any reason to show up and you don’t have to work through, you tend to get your interest moves from one thing to the next, but if you’re getting into a progressive system you move from one thing to the next thing to the next thing. There’s also educational reasons behind it. Let’s look at martial arts. So in most martial arts you go white belt.

[00:05:00] I believe most of them go yellow belt,

[00:05:03] Then they go green belt, then they go blue belt, then go Red belt, then they go blackbelt.

[00:05:11] That’s the traditional system, I’m pretty sure I’ve got it. I may be wrong. I know there’s a brown belt and a purple belt in Jiu Jitsu but the point is there’s a belt system so you go white to yellow to green to blue to red to brown to black. Let’s just say that and I know there’s a purple in jujitsu somewhere in there. But why do you do that.

[00:05:30] Well because the white belt is going to have a different skill set than the yellow belt, and the white belt is going to have a different skill set than the Green Belt, and the blue belt is going to have a different skill set than the green belt. Right. Even GE they say well J.B. that’s martial arts. We can apply that to our life. The truth is yes you can, GE even had it. GE had a black belt system for their management teams. Again it’s a progressive learning way that you learn right. So you go from white belt to yellow belt the yellow belt knows more than the white belt and the yellow belt can help the white belt to the yellow belt the Green Belt knows more than the yellow belt, but the the green belt could help the white and the yellow belt the black belt could help everybody. That’s like a belt system, and that’s kind of what we want to put together in any type of leadership system. So what are we doing? Well we’re putting that together here at MorningCoach. I have three levels, Level one you awaken. That’s the awake state where I’m helping you understand what’s going on. Then we elevate into Level 2 which I call the twins level. Why is it called the twins level,

[00:06:36] because we’re going to work with energy and peace, and we’re going to work with organization with the sacred six, and finances. Once we get that accomplished we go into Level 3. Level 3 is our triad level. Now why is it called triads, because that’s when we start to divide into threes and we started to move into triads and we move into meditation and we start moving into that direction what’s going to happen to level 4. Well that’s a secret. Can’t get there yet because I’m building these levels out, but those are the first three. So everybody’s going to be one of those three as we get started and next week we’re launching level 2. So level 2 the qualifications would be coming in. You’ll get in level 2 will start working together, and the thing that’s going to be cool about this, is it’s going to allow me to get more involved because we’re creating some secret groups on Facebook meaning they’re totally private. Nobody can find them, nobody can see what’s in them, unless you’re invited, you can’t get in them. We’re going to get to work together, and as the levels progress I’m going to be able to spend more time with those levels and make sure that people are getting, make sure you’re getting what you need to progress through the levels so as you master you know your organization, as you master your finances, you get that organized and you really start to understand energy and peace.

[00:07:51] Now we’re ready to go under the triads, the other thing that occurs as we create these levels and why level 3 is a triad. I also can see how committed someone is,is somebody really committed to this. Are they willing to work, because the last thing I want to do is bring somebody to a level three, graduate them in, put them in a triad and have them quit then it’s not fair to the other two people. If somebody is really committed and I put them together in a triad, triads are amazing. Now we’ve got three people working together to achieve what we’re getting into some of the more esoteric topics as meditation and really getting the deeper aspects of the connection and really getting energy and peace to work for you. So that’s where we’re going, and the reason we’re going there is because I know that I needed it. I needed the progression. People say well why do you train with Sir, because I love the progression, I love the fact that now that I did Wolf one, which is one of the hardest ones, now I’ve got a 24 hour minimal sleep, minimal food training coming up, and I’m going to need to make sure that I’m prepared for that. How do I prepare for that. I’ve got to start training harder. I got to get better I got to you know train to make sure that I’m ready for Wolf too and ready to hit that level. So being in this leadership system it allows you to progress.

[00:09:05] Again you can think of a martial art, you could think of GE and a management system, you could think of a corporate system where your start at the beginning in the mailroom and you work your way up, all the way up. You could think of of of you remodeling a house and how you go room to room, to room, to room. You need something that you’re working to in your life currently everyday and you need to be able to do this as a leader within the people you lead. How are you going to take somebody from step A or point A to Point Z. What are the indicators along the way so that they can work and they can gain the knowledge as they are working through the system. That’s where the breakdown is. Most people hire people bring them in and then they just stay there’s no upward progression. There’s no leadership system there’s no management system to move them forward, and we want to put that in play. We want to get something like that working for your life and what does that create, that creates engagement and why is engagement so important because we’re not engaged we quit we move on to something else. I’ve been very fortunate here at Morning coach because we have people that get it you get it. If you listen to this, you understand and you support us and you’re a part of this and you’re making a difference.

[00:10:19] What I’ve left off of this and I’ve learned over the past 10, 11 years and why we’ve lost people along the way is because there hasn’t been a progressive system, and that’s why I’m making the change that I’m making. I’m making sure we have a progressive system, I’m also going away. We’ve closed morning coach this year, we’ve opened it two times. This year we’re going to go away from that as we come in and 2018, and the idea now is going to be, you have to get sponsored in. Why do I want you to be sponsored in? Once you get sponsored in then you have somebody that could take you through the first couple of stages and we can work together to get you through that and you can get the knowledge that you need, instead of somebody who joins MorningCoach when I open it up once a year for a course or two times a year. They get the course and they go in there and they start going with what’s IO D and what’s MNM And you know what do I listen to and where do I go and where do I start. Next thing you know they’re just frustrated because there’s no leadership system there’s no progressive system. This way we’re going to have a progressive system. Also I got to tell you one thing I will let you know that is important is recognition.

[00:11:22] When you establish a system whether I finish Wolf with sir, or I go through a level of MorningCoach, or as we get older in life whether you’re in corporate, You go up a stage, and you get a new title, we lack recognition. It’s one thing we strive for is more recognition, so I want to make sure that here at MorningCoach the people that are really putting in the time and the effort and are doing it are getting acknowledged. I want to make sure that people know who you are and what you are about because you need that recognition.

[00:11:53] We all need recognition. We all need a pat on the back once in a while and I want to make this a place that you can do that. Same thing with you, you want to make it a place for your people where you can give them recognition and you can help them do the things they want to do and recognize them for the things that are going on. OK.

[00:12:12] So let’s get out there and make it a great day to day, let’s think about your leadership system. You can model me in what we’re doing. You know you can come up with some level some progressive ideas. That’s what we want to do and what this is doing is creating an educational system, a system for you to get some encouragement, a system to help you stay engaged and give you something to train for day in and day out and that’s what we’re going to be doing together here and hopefully you can take some of these ideas and you can start to apply and your own life for yourself and for others and for your children for whatever you’re doing that you create a progressive system, a leadership system that’s taken somebody through the different stages to keep them engaged to keep them fresh and to keep them working with you. OK. So let’s go make it a great day it’s going to be a great one. Tomorrow is going to be about spiritual leadership we’re going to have some fun,

[00:13:01] but today let’s work on the progressive environment we’re putting together. I love you, I do, get out there have a great day and I will be back with more to keep you going right here on

[00:00:00] Good Morning,

[00:00:10] and welcome to MorningCoach. Today I am so glad you’re with us. As you know my name is JB Glossinger, and this is your personal evolution system. Thee place to get your day started right. Welcome, welcome, welcome. I’m so glad you’re with me today as we’re rocking and rolling putting some great energy out there. Really having some fun and that’s what it’s about, here at MorningCoach. Good energy everyday, this episode two thousand nine hundred thirty five. It is a Saturday here in the United States depending on where you’re listening in the world it may be Sunday for you. Had some fun this week talking about relaxing getting away a little bit, you know surrendering a little, bit getting connected to some deeper aspects of life, and even talked about your fall morning routine. Lot of fun this week and today we’re going to talk about getting away how to get away which is something we all need to do once in a while and have some fun with that you know system Saturday. So I’m going to talk a little bit about some of the things I try to do when I get away from things that are going on. We all need to do this once in awhile just to get away.

[00:01:15] So the first thing that, let’s talk about that. What does get away mean? Well get it away way means you’re going to take a little breather for things, you’re going to and take a break. You’re going to disappear and then stop thinking about things so much. Now I think you heard me this week that I’m ready for that. I’m ready for a break but I can’t take one until December when we’re going to go to Columbia and then I’m going to take a little break. You know I’ve been doing this a long time. We’re an episode 2135 we’re doing the MNM course. We are coming up with some new ideas and things for the MorningCoach Community that I really want to bring that I’m excited about and it’s a lot of work. I mean I can’t tell you, you know it’s funny if you think about it two years ago. If you’ve been listen to me, you know the big theme was, how were done at 9:30 and I go golf every day. Well man has that changed. I got into this whole idea of really making a shift to bringing on the idea of getting you know a million people, and helping a million people. As we’ve done this it’s I mean gosh, it’s been you know a 12 to 16 hour days every single day. I’m enjoying it, but it’s just different. You know it’s you know and I haven’t taken a break you know since we made that decision back last year. It’s been about a year.

[00:02:29] November last year that like let’s really change some things up so we can impact more people. But in saying that you know you know I got off the golf course and as you know you don’t hear me talking about golf much anymore. Really focusing on what can we do to expand this? And we’re getting there. You know we’ve got a big project and we’ve got some projects we’re going to let you know about. We’re getting the courses going and just really cool things. But boy man it’s, I’m in it, I’m in it now, I can feel it. I’m feeling the fatigue a little bit. It’s all good. I mean it’s all good but it’s you know even me, you know I need a break once in a while. So in December you know I get I can suck it up buttercup you know a little more here, and then December I’m going to take a little break and head down south to Columbia. Disappear for a little while and come on back up recharge because really one of the big things that’s going on is that I’m getting ready to do a bunch of podcasts interviews. So we have a new firm that we brought on that’s bringing me in to do interviews with other people, and again the idea here is so you know is to help as many people as possible, right? They get this message out to as many people as possible. So the new firm we’re working with they’re going to be having me on a bunch of podcasts interviews. like one a week.

[00:03:43] We’re going to be doing one a week and then doing some radio and stuff. In doing that you know we started looking at our episode count. So this is episode 2135, and what was crazy is, tell me this isn’t metaphysical, they we’re looking for things to promote around. Well you know I want to go to Columbia you know sometime in December. Well this year Christmas is very special. OK. Why is Christmas very special, is because our three thousands episode MorningCoach number 3000 falls on Christmas. How cool is that? Is that just cool. And so everybody’s excited about it and they want to do a big deal about it. They want to get it out on a podcast. You know all the big podcast shows and stuff, that hey you know we’ve done 3000 episodes and you know all the people that we’ve helped over the years and the things that we’ve done. You know being one of the really the first podcasters out there. It’s really really cool. It is a really awesome milestone and it’s going be cool as it falls right around Christmas. That’s going to take us right into our kickstart year which is the big deal for us. Obviously our MorningCoach people are looking to create their new habits, and you know we’re going to do our grape ritual and stuff but it’s exciting. Right it’s just so cool. I am so pumped about it and we’re getting ready to do that. So yes there’s a lot of work.

[00:04:52] A lot of energy being put into this right now and there has been for the last year. lot of battles up and down in and out. When you make these type transitions to try to reach people, some good things some bad things, again trying to reserve judgment.

[00:05:06] But you know when you’re in the grind ,which you’ve got do sometimes. Sometimes everything doesn’t work out exactly as planned and so we’re getting through there and it’s time to get away a little bit. So let’s talk about this so I’m going to get away in December but you may be getting away this week. You may be getting away next week. What are some things that you can do to get away? Well the first thing that I think you should do is plan ahead, like really plan ahead. I mentioned it on the podcast a few days ago that you know I was planning on going to Israel next year and planning on going to Germany for two stops. Olaf thank you for the email brother, you rock and if you want to go, or be a part of that, or have me put a religious experience together as we could go together and do a spiritual experience in Israel. let me know if we have five, 10 people, I could put something together. I can figure out the hotels and everything, and come up with a good price point for that. I’m open to that. OK I mentioned that we’re going to be going to Columbia in the next year to two years or more going on some retreat space down there. I will keep you informed on that, but if you want to get involved in some of those let me know and I would love to see. I mean a lot of people have already reached out about Europe which is cool but I try to plan ahead.

[00:06:14] So that’ll be 2018 and I’ll give you at least six months leadway on that. And again, if you ever want to be a part of any of the travel that I’m going on if I decide to go we can put a small group together. Or maybe you have some people that would like to get together. I’m open to work with that. As long as it works within a budget we can make that work, so we can talk about that off line. Just send me an email right. But you got to plan ahead. OK so that’s step one. Step two, I think this is an important one. We need to quit a little earlier and this is critical. Zig Ziglar talks about if somebody came to you and said “hey listen, if by Thursday you could get all your work done I will take you to Fiji and we’ll head over to Fiji and see Tony Robbins for example and Fiji’s Island.” You get it done by Thursday. Right? So you want to get that mindset like I’m going to get a lot of stuff done earlier so that I can go right. So we want to quit a little bit earlier.

[00:07:07] We want to when we go, we want to allow some pampering. So part of the issue we have is we tend to travel and then we get there and we don’t let go, we don’t let go, and so we get frustrated and angry because you know we’re worried about getting home already. And it’s why I normally when I go places I normally go between two weeks and a month. Now if I’m just going sightseeing like Europe will be a two week trip because I’m not taking Neo with me, and you know that’s a big big part of it. But when I go to Columbia I go for at least a month, because if I don’t go for a month I’m already thinking about leaving by the time I get there. That’s just the way I travel. But along with that, you need allow yourself some time for pampering, a massage to relax to enjoy it. Don’t vacation, like the movie Vacation where it’s so documented everything you got to do that there’s no ability to play a little bit. Very important when you’re getting away, that you pamper yourself. So if it’s a business trip totally different but if you’re going to get away, get away. Right? Allow yourself to pamper yourself, and then give it time to get there. Right? And I think that’s another issue. In today’s world with travel one of the reasons I don’t like to travel, is because of all the time and all the stuff you have to go through to get from point A to Point B.

[00:08:23] If we didn’t have that I would probably enjoy travel little bit more. So in order to enjoy it you got to give yourself plenty of time. You know I tend to you know want to get home. And so sometimes I’ll go speak like in New York. New York has a lot of late flights out, and I’ll be like “Oh just give me a 10:00 flight and I’ll get back in it you know 1:30 in the morning and I’ll come home.” And I’ve since learned that it’s better just go the next day get a nice rest, get some sleep, get up in the morning and go in the morning. I know it’s like you want to get home, but sometimes it’s better just to give yourself some space. allow yourself some time to get there. Again a lot of times we rush and that causes problems so give yourself some space, allow yourself some time. Along the way when you get there, Enjoy eating. Enjoy the sacred eating kind of idea.

[00:09:11] You know Matt Kramers got me kind of becoming a foodie a little bit which I’m not. Right? I’m just you know my normal meal in full disclosure at night is a boiled chicken breast a piece of broccoli thrown in there and a sweet potato and a salad. That’s my normal meal right at night, my standard meal, that’s not a foodie right?  It’s just like the most bland thing I know I’m putting seasoning on it and put a little barbecue sauce on the chicken. I’ll eat a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, a sweet potato, and some salad. And it’s about as bland as you can get. When I go away that’s my time to enjoy eating. That’s my time to try different foods and really enjoy eating because I’m not in the day to day which is just about maintenance for me. I just kind of live for maintenance when I’m at home I’m not really trying to enjoy it. I look full disclosure. I’ve been enjoying a little bit lately. I cooked some salmon on cedar. It was crazy. The cedar wood and they were pre-made already, you know on the Ceder but still I soaked it in wine for about four hours and put that thing on the grill and boy it came out really good. I was surprised I did awesome with it. And you know I eat a lot of grass fed stuff and I eat grass fed Ribeyes and I cook a lot on the grill.

[00:10:24] But anyway so I’m becoming a little bit of a foodie and enjoy eating, Ok as you’re out. When you’re on vacation avoid business talk. Now this is impossible for me. I’m just going to tell you when I’m out, everybody wants to know what I’m doing. I try to do my best to get away if me and Piley go that’s why I like Colombia. I speak the language pretty well. Still not 100 percent but it’s getting better and every time I go I get better, but it’s still not a situation where everybody wants to talk business. In the United States, I can’t get away from it. It’s almost impossible for me to escape it.

[00:10:55] It’s why when I speak and go places some people say JB’s a jerk, he’s disappearing because I just I need my space. I do this day in and day out, and I mean I do this 24 hours a day. I mean even when I’m sleeping I’m thinking about how could I make MorningCoach better. You know back in the day for a couple of years ago I did take a little break from it. But even then I was constantly thinking about how I could help make this better. Just a golf course got me away a little bit and I still need to get out there a little bit because it does get my mind off of this. You know avoid business talk, try to avoid it, try to just have your break. That’s the key. You want to be flexible in your schedule again. I said don’t vacation it. If you’ve seen the movie Vacation with Chevy Chase it’s like we’re going here, we’re going there, we’re going to Wally World, like step by step, by step, by step, some of that’s OK. Just allow some flexibility. Allow God to come into your life for the universe whatever you believe to give you some open ideas and experiences that come into your life. You never know what you can experience if you just got to be open to it. Right? That’s the key. Then finally, this is the closure part of it. I think we tend to skip, and that is to enjoy the trip home.

[00:12:06] So don’t only enjoy the trip there which is always exciting but enjoy the trip home. Enjoy the whole process of the experience. Once you start becoming more enlightened and again loaded term. Right? Once you become more enlightened you start thinking a little bit deeper about things you get in MNM and really start developing the idea of meditation. You will start to understand this concept of experience when you step into it a little bit. So even the way home can be an experience and that’s what I want you to focus in on. OK. So this is one you can put in your tool box. But if you’re getting away maybe it’s today right. Use these tips today to get away you know get some pampering today. It’s a Saturday or Sunday if you’re overseas gives some time to have some fun and really enjoy it. Let’s keep rolling, eat some good food today be a little flexible and enjoy it, and that will make your life so much better.

[00:13:05] OK. So enjoy. That’s what it’s about let’s enjoy the day, let’s enjoy the weekend, and

[00:13:12] let’s have a blast. I’ve got some things coming for you that are just going to blow you away as we continue to do this. I appreciate your support. I really do if you can write a review if you can share this on Facebook if you can put it on Twitter. We are working to really expand this to a million people. We’ve got a ways to go. We’re getting five to six thousand downloads an episode so that’s about 1900995 thousand more people that we want to expose this to. So in order to do this we need your help and the way we do that is if each person exposes it to one person you know and then all of a sudden we have 10000 20000 and 40000 80000 and then 160000 and then 320 and then 640 and then we’re there. That’s one person at a time so don’t ever feel that your voice is not strong enough don’t ever feel you’re not a part of this because you are. The more we get it out there the more we can help people start their day just a little bit better. And in starting your day a little bit better helps you with your life. OK. So I love you. Get out there have a great one put some great energy out there and I will be back with more right here tomorrow to get your day started on I love you. I do. Go have a phenomenal day.

[00:00:09] Good morning and welcome to Morning Coach today. I am so glad you’re with us. As you know, my name is J.B. Glossinger, and this is your personal evolution system, the place to get your day started right. Welcome, welcome, welcome, and I’m so glad you’re with me this Tuesday, ready to take it on. Kind of leaning towards Halloween here, middle of October, heading into the fall season, which is always, I always love fall. You know, I used to play football back in the day, and it was that time of the year. But back in Indiana, the leaves started to turn, the weather started to get real nice, and I just, I don’t know, something about the fall season, which just, you know, right before winter, is just a good, good season. And I always just enjoyed it. It was a little sad because the summer was finishing, but, you know, it’s still a nice season. Right? Now, we’re going to have some fun this fall as we get into it a little bit more.

[00:01:01] Today, I got a great topic for you, and I really want to hit this hard because it’s something that you hear conflicting ideas on. OK? And it’s really my thoughts on hard work. So, it’s this idea of “when is hard work counterproductive?” Because we’ve all heard about hard work, and I even say sometimes you just got to pick up the shovel and go after it and just do it, right? But there are times when when working hard can be counterproductive. And I want to go through that because I get a lot of emails and questions on this, and it’s something that’s really important.

[00:01:30] By the way, if you don’t mind, instead of sending me emails, because of the volume it’s hard for me to get to everything, when you have a question, just go up to the Ask J.B. on the Morning Coach site and just put it in there. It’s so easy to type it in there, and I will get to you. I promise. We’ve had some great ones up there. But it’s just so much easier than email, because it just, I get so many emails, and it’s just easier to have them all in one place. So, if you don’t mind doing that, that would be fantastic, when you have a question.

[00:01:56] So, hard work. I mean, when, when is it, you know, too much? Well, let’s, first of all, let’s talk about personal development, because a lot of people come here and know I do this every single day. Meaning that I’ve done 2,931 episodes of this Morning Coach show, coaching show. Right? So, there’s 2,931 topics times 15 minutes. If you do the mat,h it’s, it’s crazy. It’s like a month. If you started listening on episode 1 and didn’t stop until today, it would take you a month, not sleeping, like, you’d have to listen 24 hours a day to get all the content. Meaning, there has been a lot of stuff put out over the years. And if you’ve been with me for the years or are just starting, it’s great, but either way, there will be a lot more coming, because I’m with you every day. Right?

[00:02:41] So, there’s days I talk about reading audio. You know, listening to audio books, I think is great. There’s the spreadsheet, you know, if you’re doing Wealth 101. And there’s listening here every day. There’s reading books that we do. We’ve done book studies in the past. And We do, you know, we’re doing M/M right now, of course, and there’s books in there. And it starts to add up a little bit. You know, there’s a lot of things that can be done because I put so much content out.

[00:03:05] Now, I really work hard to create an easy system for you. Meaning, you listen in the morning, right, and then maybe work a little bit on M/M during the day and or maybe Wealth 101 or some people taking ILD right now. I know Steve sent me an email over the weekend, he’s getting in ILD, a few people. And by the way, I try to get to all the comments or questions you have in there when you’re taking those courses as a member. But there’s a lot right. There’s a lot. And so, sometimes, if you get into it and you’re like me, you want to do everything. Oh, the Sacred Six journal, I want the Sacred Six book. You know, I want to go to retreats. And that’s totally cool. It’s totally cool.

[00:03:39] But there comes a point when you start to feel like you’re not doing enough, or you feel like you can’t do enough, and you start to get overwhelmed. Even with your personal development, and you start to feel unsuccessful. Right? And that’s the opposite of what we’re doing here at Morning Coach. That’s the opposite of what we’re doing with personal development. We need you to just grow and to feel and just keep moving. And if I give you something one day and it’s a little bit out of the norm, like, “Well, I just read this book. It’s awesome. You should read it,” and you’re in M/M, and you’re already, you know, you’re in “The Mind Illuminated,” and you’re halfway through, don’t go get that book. You know, put it, just wait for it. OK? Wait for it. This is my job to read three to four books a week, and sometimes, one of them, you know, it’s just like, “Wow, this is so great. I want to share it.” And I do my best to try to keep things simple here, but sometimes I share a little too much, and it ends up being work.

[00:04:29] So, Morning Coach should never be work. That’s my point. Your personal development should never be work. You should never feel like you’re not getting there. It’s a process. It’s just like rushing meditation. I’m doing that over 11 weeks to teach you. But that course could take years. You know? It could take, you know, for you to master meditation, right? It’s OK. It’s not meant to be just consumed all at one time.

[00:04:51] So, my point is, a lot of times, it’s not about the grind. And when you start getting into the grind, even with personal development, you have to back off because, all of a sudden, you’re adding stress to your life instead of having a feeling of empowerment. Because the real key is, it’s about how you feel. It’s not about the massive amount of work you do. OK?

[00:05:13] And that’s so important to understand from a metaphysical perspective that, yes, there are times we have to work. We have to pick up the shovel. I’m not going to sit here and say we don’t have to. But we don’t have to do as Gary Vaynerchuk says. You don’t, you know, sit there until your eyes bleed. There’s a balance, right? In reality, what Gary is talking about him building a business, it’s more about the talent that you have or the talent that you achieve that somebody is going to pay for you. It’s more about the value in the marketplace, you know, than it is than it is about just working hard. But the problem is, I think, what Gary tries to address with that is that most people don’t realize the time that it takes to get the expertise, and they’re wanting it overnight. And that’s really the difference, right?

[00:05:58] So, we want to work and do something that we enjoy. We want to put work in, but we don’t want to work so hard that now, all of a sudden, we’re working so hard that we’re feeling negative about the situation. Because once we start getting negative, that’s what we’re attracting into our lives. That’s a basic law of attraction principle. So, we’ve got to be very conscious of trying to do too much and then not allowing God, the universe, whatever you believe, to start working. Or just from a practical standpoint, that it sometimes takes some time to get things working. So, hard work can be counterproductive when you’re just working to work. OK?

[00:06:36] Many people I’ll talk to and they’ll say, “I’m so busy.” “I am so busy,” and then I’ll sit down, and I’ll go over what they’re doing, and it’s just busy work. There’s nothing really that’s contributing to anything. They get on the computer in the morning, and they don’t get up and move, and they’re just on the computer all day, and there’s not really any movement. Like, there’s really nothing happening.

[00:06:56] How do I know this? Because I do it a lot of times, and I’m raising my hands. I’m a master at focus and organization and getting a lot of things done. That’s what I teach. It’s the Sacred Six, but yet, I’m still one that will fall asleep at the wheel and just consider myself working hard. And I work 14, 15, 16, 18 hour,s and nothing gets done. So it’s like, well, what was I, what was I doing? And it was a lack of prioritization. It was a lack of understanding what I needed to do, and it was just trying to work through things, right?

[00:07:25] And so, we got to work smarter than harder. Hard work doesn’t guarantee success. And I think that’s the big issue. I think a lot of us think, “if I just work hard, that I’ll be successful.” That’s not true. What happens is, we manifest things based on the feeling and the way that, you know, we feel that things are going to come into our life.

[00:07:45] So, the other day, I did a show on manifesting money, on Friday, right? And I said, “you carry that hundred dollar bill around with you.” Well, why do you do that? Well, if we look at Jerry and Esther Hicks, right, who are the founders… or not, the Law of Attraction has been around from William Wattles and way before them. But Jerry and Esther did a great job of bringing, you know, and I’m not into the channeling thing, but supposedly Abraham came through and, you know, really brought them the information, but they really did a great job with this Law of Attraction idea and simplified it. And their concept is, when you carry like a $100 bill around and you think about what you can buy with it and you’re constantly mentally thinking about what you can buy with it, all of a sudden, you’re starting to change the feeling of the money in your life. Instead of going, “Wow, I got bills to pay. I have no money,” to “Wow, I have money,” which attracts more into your life.

[00:08:32] So, it’s the same thing with work. When you want to bring things into your life- and that’s really what we’re talking about with work, right?- what we need to do is, we need to feel good about what we’re doing. We need that feeling of appreciating, a feeling of gratitude to allow it to come into your life and allow it to flow to you. And that’s the real question is “how do you feel.

[00:08:53] You know, when your business isn’t getting bigger or your career isn’t moving a little bit faster, do you get frustrated? “What is it with other people?” Do you get frustrated when you see them? Do I get frustrated when I look at Tony Robbins? And I watched a video the other day, and I watched his place in Fiji, and it’s so beautiful. And he’s, you know, he bought it when he was 29 for $10 million. Now, he’s had it for 33 years. It’s this amazing place. And my buddy Billy Beck is training, you know, Tony. So,  I’m like, “Man, wouldn’t that be great to have?” And inside of me, I’m going, “Well, we couldn’t afford it. It’s… business isn’t big enough,” and, all of a sudden, you’re getting that little jealousy and animosity. And I have to catch myself and say, “Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute. That’s awesome that he has that. That’s great.” Feel great. Feel that Joy. Don’t get that little envy going, right?

[00:09:36] And that’s what we got to watch is how you feel towards other people? How you feel towards the work? How do you feel toward your personal development growth? And when it starts to get a little negative and your like, “J.B., another book? J.B., another course?” Slow it down. Get back to the basics. Listen to Morning Coach. Get your mind right. And it’s why I think meditation is so critical. Because we get so caught up in our mind, we get so caught up in the minutia that we don’t really realize what we should be doing everyday, so we just work. Or we shut it down, and we don’t work, and we expect things to happen, and that’s what Gary talks about. Like, well, you got to put effort in. Just because you got a YouTube channel doesn’t mean there’s going to be a million people come and watch it. And just because you know how to use a camera and you do nice videos doesn’t mean people are going to watch it. Just because, you know, you took a coaching course doesn’t mean you’re going to be able to get clients. And I see that a lot. Right?

[00:10:30] So, we’ve got to work hard. Well, how do you know what to work on? Well, you’ve got to add skills to your life that people are going to buy. And what are those? Well, depending, the market is challenging. We don’t know what the market wants. But what we’ve got to do is, we’ve got to learn and get out there and talk to people and, you know, meet with real people and see what they need. I can tell you one thing, the market will always buy. Always, always. And that is the solution to problems. That’s it. You know, and if you take ILD, you’ll learn that, you know, that you’ve got to come up with a solution to problems. And what is the problem that you’re solving? And what is the value of that problem?

[00:11:07] If you think about diamonds and De Beers, you know, there’s more diamonds than we can, can, there’s tons of them, but they created this thing that you need one for your wedding. You need one for engagement, right? They’ve constrained supply, and they’ve created this need, which makes the market more valuable because people want to solve the problem. What is the problem? I got to buy this huge ring for this wonderful woman that I want to marry, right? They created that problem, and they created a market of people that are just going crazy over this stuff.

[00:11:34] You know, Apple is great at creating, you know, creating a market. They got the new iPhone X out. I’m going to buy it. I’m going to get up at 3:00 in the morning and order it, right? They constrain supply, so there’s not enough for everybody. Those are just marketing techniques that just happened, but they’re creating the need. People want it. People want it, right? They’re creating the need. So, it’s solving a problem. What does an iPhone X do? Well, I’ve got an iPhone 6 Plus. It’s going to be faster. It’s going to work. My phone’s really slowed down. I actually think the iPhone, the 11 update they just did, they actually slowed the phone down. So, when you get the new one, it’s fast. Seems like it, at least.

[00:12:08] But the point is, you got to solve problems, right? So, it’s not always about working so hard, unless you’re working hard to become a problem solver. It’s about finding the problems you solve. Same thing at work. I mean, if you go to work everyday, what problems do you solve? The CEO has to report to the board to make sure that company is profitable. That’s a much bigger problem than somebody that’s, you know, putting the widget together. You see what I’m saying? So, the bigger the problem you solve, the more money you make. So, it’s not always about how hard you work.

[00:12:39] And then it’s how you feel. So, if we want to get into the metaphysical side of it, the Law of Attraction side of it, do you feel that you don’t deserve the money? Do you have impostor syndrome? Do you not feel the value when you look at your bank account? Or do you get scared when you look at your bills? Do you feel anxiety? Those are things we’ve got to work on, right?

[00:12:58] So, these are the basics. If you can get this down, you don’t have to work hard. You solve problems. You bring that to the marketplace. The market either buys it or doesn’t, and there always be a percentage of people that won’t. So, you just, you know, it is what it is. And if you can build it big enough that a lot of people come, that’s great. Or you take it into the job market, and you take your value in there, and you put it out there, and you feel good about it. And you watch the comparison, the jealousy, the animosity, and then you start learning skills to increase your value, which increases your revenue. Right?

[00:13:28] So, my point is, just watch getting too overwhelmed in anything you do because that’s is a big issue. And then if you start feeling negative about any situations, we need to make that switch because that’s what’s going to push it away from you and bring the opposite in. I mean, the truth is, you’re only going to get one of two things. You’re only going to get abundance or lack. You know, everything has an opposite. You either have health or unhealth, right? And so, we want to have the good things in life. In order to do that, we got to start feeling good about our health, feeling good about our relationships, feeling good about our money, feeling good about the value we’re putting in the world, and continue to learn and grow and develop.

[00:14:02] So, how do you do that? Well, I’m, I’m giving you the sources. Right? We have ILD in the membership program. We have M/M to get your mind right. Slow it down. Get out of the noise. I think it’s one of the most important things we can do. You know, if you aren’t generating what you need, if your life isn’t filled with happiness and joy and peace, then there’s a break down there. You know, we are here to be abundant beings. We’re here to create. And if you’re not feeling that joy and that peace and that happiness and that gratitude, then we’re out of balance. We’re out of alignment. We need to get that back. In order to get that back, we’ve got to start feeling better about the things we need to do. And we’ve got to get clear about what we want to do and then really put the game plan to attack that. OK? So, that’s what we got to do.

[00:14:44] And if you’re really stuck with that, like I said, I’ve got a lot of tools for you. I also do some coaching. So, if you want to get a hold of me, go to the coaching page at and click on that, and I’ve got a couple of group coaching slots open, and I’ve got a couple individual. Not many, but I have a couple. I could probably squeeze a couple of people in if you want to work with me. But it’s, you know, I just have only so many slots.

[00:15:05] But the main thing is, I just want you to feel better about what you’re doing, working smarter not harder, and just, just let this work for you. Those are my thoughts on hard work. Buy into this system. Come here every day. Change the way you’re thinking. Get a little more positive. Start to believe in things a little bit differently. And watch how your life will just evolve. Recognize that this takes time. It really does. But it will evolve as you keep moving forward. OK?

[00:15:33] So, I love you. I’m running out of time. I’ll be back tomorrow. We’re going to talk about what it means to surrender. Don’t miss it. Really big week this week. Let’s slow it down. Stick with me with M/M. Make sure you’re meditating. Those small segments, even five minutes, I’m cool with. But we want to start slowing that brain down so that you can feel this positivity and this energy that’s going to come into your life. OK? So, I love you. Get out there. Have a great day. And I will be back with more here tomorrow at
