“ I am flowing with love and energy and this helps me maintain the belief in myself.” -JB Glossinger

You must believe in yourself, even in the face of adversity. If you don’t believe in yourself, nobody else will believe in you. It all starts with that self love and idea of confidence.

How do we get confidence in ourselves? How do we get confidence to go up on stage, or talk to the boss, or go look for a new job? Let’s start off with some of the basics.

1) Health

We need to work on our health. There is a direct correlation to feeling good and having self confidence. People that are getting things done are healthy and they have that energy. Energy creates energy. If you haven’t gotten on a health kick, then start today! We need that good chemistry in our body to handle the things in front of us.

2) Dress for success.

Know your style. How do you carry yourself? What are the things that you wear? When JB speaks, he usually buys a new Hugo Boss shirt, a pair of Diesel jeans, and new shoes from Cole Haan. So that’s his “confidence” uniform. He’s super confident when he’s in his uniform.

Other people follow the Steve Job’s kind of idea and wear the same thing everyday. They are very comfortable wearing the same thing like black jeans and a black turtle neck. It helps to reduce stress because that’s one less decision to make at the start of your day. Wearing the same thing every day will save time, and also save you a lot of money, too.

The important idea is to know your style, and stick with a style that helps you feel super confident – no matter what!

3) Consistently get out of your box

Get out of your comfort zone. You’ve got to keep moving out. You’ve got to keep growing. The more you get out of the comfort zone, the easier it is for you to do new things. Doing new things with confidence is a skill that you can practice, too!

It’s important to build self confidence, cause we want to stack wins. Whenever we try something new, we take the time to congratulate ourself for making the effort.

Do something new. Try something.. fail once in a while! It’s a good thing!

4) Be generous

Being generous creates great self confidence. We want to give people our time, money, or energy. We feel better about ourselves when we give others our positive energy.

Be very particular about where you invest your energy. Look for the causes or people that you believe in.

Be generous when it comes to basics like tipping. Why? It adds to our self confidence, but more importantly, people deserve it. It’s part of having an abundance mentality. Money is a type of energy, so when we want to make more money, we must be more generous with money, too!

Be generous in your praise, and in thanking people. Be generous with your time, your attention, and your interest. Other people are there serving us. We want to honor that and respect them.

5) Have principles

How do you become confident? You live by your principles. You have to take some time to reflect on your life principles so that you can make choices that will make your life better. JB wants to be free, so if something infringes on his value of freedom he won’t do it. He avoids negative people or unreasonable people.

Have principles, and stick with them! Truth be told, people respect you more if you have principles.

6) Be a good listener

If you are a good listener you can hear what people are saying. It builds confidence. If you can hear what they’re saying, then you can determine if it’s somebody you want to be with or don’t want to be with.

If you have to work with people that you don’t want to be with for now, then it’s important to start planning for a new ILD life. By listening carefully, you begin to discover new choices that you might otherwise miss.

7) Set smalls goals and achieve them

The big new habit that you want to develop is to “stack the wins”. Ask yourself “What did I do today what was positive? What did I win today? How can I stack those wins?” Track your successes, even the little ones. If you notice 3 wins a day, you’ll have fifteen by Friday. Wow! That builds self confidence!

8) Get around the right people

Get around the right people. Search out a group of like-minded people that you really want to be around. You don’t want to be the smartest person in the room. You want to be around people who have what you want; that will inspire you and uplift you.

You don’t need anyone else in your life. With ILD, we want to help you find the freedom, the joy, the passion, and the things that you want. Just like we’re doing here with the ILD Membership. So, we’re going to keep working together to do that. We want you to live the life you deserve
